WELCOME FROM TERRY HOOVER
Welcome To Small Groups!

“Come on in and make yourself at home!”

Or whatever you say when you want people to feel welcomed.
Whether you wish to ask questions, help give answers or just hang around and see what is going on is irrelevant. The real issue is, “Do you have a desire to build the Kingdom of God?” If so, this is the place for you to take a good look at what a small group of people can do and experience when touched by God.

If you work with a small Group ministry in a congregation of the churches of Christ, we would like to invite you to join us. The purpose of this site is to communicate the small Group dream as effectively as possible. You are invited to take part in this purpose.[more]

Small Group Leader Guide

stars
NEW!!!

Welcome to small group leader’s training! In choosing to be a small-group leader,
you’re taking a front-line role in strengthening the spiritual life of this congregation.
As a group leader, you are the single most important link in the small-group network. Whether
you’re a new leader or a returning veteran, this leader’s guide will give you practical help
in leading your group more effectively. It’s also intended to encourage both you and your group
members to grow closer to God in Christian discipleship.

The topics covered in this guide range from why small groups are important and why we meet in
small groups to practical help in understanding some of the purposes and dynamics of small group interaction. There's also advice on getting your group started right, and practical help in making sure it runs smoothly with an emphasis on troubleshooting any difficulties that may arise. At the end of this guide is a list of other helpful resources for further reading, along with examples of some other items to help you in your group.

    SMALL GROUP BOOK TITLES
building church of small groupsBuilding a Church of Small Groups
    by Bill Donahue, Russ Robinson
How can church become a place where nobody stands alone? Through small groups. Like nothing else, they provide the kind of life-giving community that builds and empowers the body of Christ and impacts the world. Donahue and Robinson tell how your church--whatever its size and circumstances--can become a place where men and women, adults and children, can experience powerful, transforming community. Building a Church of Small Groups unpacks the vision, values, and strategies required to integrate small groups into your entire ministry. Part one presents the theological, sociological, and organizational underpinnings of small groups. Part two moves you from vision to practice. Part three shows you how to identify, recruit, and train group leaders and provide them with long-term coaching and support. Finally, in part four, you’ll learn how to deal with the critical process of change as your church develops its small group ministry.[more]
