 Welcome to the Churches of Christ Online Web Site!
One of the main questions I've been asked frequently in regards to the development of the Churches of Christ Online Web Site is "What's your purpose?". Our formal Purpose Statement puts it this way:
"Our purpose is to unite members of the worldwide community of churches of Christ in a greater level of communication, Christian fellowship, spiritual renewal, global evangelism and congregational effectiveness."
But perhaps the picture below reflects the highest purpose and passion I have, both as a minister of the Gospel in a local church, and as executive director of Churches of Christ Online: bringing people into the Kingdom of God. And I had the wonderful pleasure of continuing that effort several weeks ago with my new brother in Christ, Cody Blankenship, who you see in the picture below.
Our desire at Churches of Christ Online is to offer positive, balanced, Bible-based, Christ-centered resources and materials to help churches of Christ around the world begin to reach out together in an intensive, focused and passionate effort to reach our world for Christ. Consider a comment by Mark Mittelburg about evangelism from his book, "Building a Contagious Church". Sharing our faith and testimony should be one of our highest callings in life.
We want to see churches of Christ around the world begin to reach out together in an intensive, focused and passionate effort to reach our world for Christ, and get plugged back into God's power source of prayer. Let's put aside any differences we may have in our fellowship and come together in a united effort to share one vital message, the Gospel of Jesus Christ; his death, his burial and his resurrection from the dead, and how people can come back into a right relationship with God through new life through His Son. And let's be committed to excellence in every ministry of the church, and seek new ideas and new methods to share the unchanging Gospel of Jesus Christ with a lost world. 1 (Corinthians 9:21-23)
Is that possible? Is it realistic to consider individual members and congregations of churches of Christ from every part of the globe coming together in a united effort to reach the lost for Christ? I believe it is. But it's going to take a major change in direction. It's going to take a new, positive outlook that seeks to emphasize what we have in common instead of what divides us as a fellowship. It's going to take a renewed commitment to evangelism by every member of the church, beginning with our church leaders. They must set the standard. And it's going to take a willingness to work together like never before. In fact, I believe it's not only possible for us to work together to reach the lost, it should be our mandate. Jesus prayed for unity. (John 17) It's time we honored his request.
At Churches of Christ Online we want to contribute to this effort by offering a wide variety of evangelistic and ministry resources for churches of Christ around the world seeking to become the church of God's intent. These resources come from within our fellowship as well as from many other sources. If you find an article or resource that you believe should not be included on our site, we will be happy to consider your comments.
